    The secret is when Kale is baked, it has a crunchy and mild flavor rather than a “leafy green” flavor. The Kale then becomes a “spice delivering device” to hit your taste buds with whatever tasty flavors you want.

    I recommend Curry spice for the incredible health benefits of Turmeric, one of the world’s healthiest spices which adds a nice “cheesy” flavor.

    Try them with a little UNREFINED salt (pink Himalayan salt, Celtic sea salt, Redmond salt).

    Add in cayenne pepper for a hot spiciness.

    Enjoy them with some melted organic ghee or organic butter for those that like buttery flavors.

    Use a spice mix like Thai or Italian spices.

    Get creative! You can add in vinegar, lemon juice, crushed cashews, or whatever healthy ingredients you want.

    Baking time varies, be sure to get them crunchy but not burned or the flavor will be off.

    40-50 minutes at 200 degree OR 10-15 minutes at 350 degrees.

    Healthy dip recipe: Herbalife’s recipe makeover for spinach dip | Herbalife Recipes

    Hello. I’m Susan Bowerman, Registered Dietician for Herbalife. If you enjoy spending a little time in the kitchen and playing with recipes, you can have a lot of fun with recipe makeovers. Today, I’m going to do a makeover on a popular high calorie appetizer a cheesy spinach dip.

    When you’re looking at a recipe to do-over, you’ll want to first focus in on the high calorie ingredients which are usually high in fat. Then, you’ll want to see if you can either reduce the amount, or swap in a healthier substitute. The other thing you want to try to do is see if you can increase the amount of some of the healthier ingredients like vegetables or even add some healthy ingredients that aren’t in the original version.

    This spinach dip is traditionally made with cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, parmesan cheese and very little spinach. For this entire recipe, we’re looking at nearly 1400 calories, and more than a half a cup of fat. And that’s not counting the calories or fat in the bread or chips that you dip into it.

    For my makeover, I did three things. I swapped the high fat ingredients for lower fat ones, I increased the amount of spinach, and I reduced the amount of parmesan cheese.

    So here’s what we are going to do I’m going to start with some plain non-fat yogurt which makes a great substitute for the sour cream that’s in the original recipe because its creamy and its smooth.

    The other thing I’m going to add is some low-fat ricotta cheese and I’m using this because it’s mild and it’s creamy and this makes a good replacement for the cream cheese and for the mayonnaise. I’m going to start to stir these together and I’m going to add some lemon juice. And what that lemon juice is going to is replace some of that tanginess that’s in the mayonnaise and also help smooth it out.

    Just give it a little stir until it’s nice and smooth and now I am going to season it and I just do this really simply just a little bit of salt and fresh pepper. And then lastly I’m going season it with fresh garlic and if you don’t want to use fresh you can use garlic powder you can use some onion powder.

    The last thing I did was I reduced the amount of parmesan cheese and that’s because the original recipe called for a full cup and I am just using a quarter of a cup. Which is really plenty because parmesan cheese is strongly flavored. And the last thing I am going to add is my spinach. All I did was add some chopped frozen spinach and what I did is I thawed it out and I just put in into a strainer and just kind of pressed it a little with a spoon against a strainer so I could get most of the liquid out of it.

    And I’m going to gently stir this up because my bowl is a little bit small. And that’s it. Now what you might notice is that this is a lot larger volume of dip than I had in the original recipe and that’s another way that I’ve been able to reduce the calories but the most important thing is that the calories in this recipe this total recipe is about 500. And remember my original recipe was 1400 but I also have more so we have less per table spoon less per serving.

    The other thing that is different about this one is that I’m not going to be serving it with chips or bread. I am going to serve it with some raw carrots and some raw cucumber and have it as a dip that way.

    Now I’ll be honest with you. Is this as creamy as the original? No. Is it as cheesy as the original? No. But does it taste great and will it satisfy your craving when you want some spinach dip but don’t want all the calories? Absolutely.

    Keep in mind that the goal of a recipe makeover isn’t to make the new recipe indistinguishable from the original. What you’re trying to do is shave some calories from a dish you love, and make it healthier so you can enjoy it with a lot less guilt. And don’t be surprised if you find you like your new version even better.     1 package (2 sheets) frozen puff pastry, defrosted
    2 Tablespoons Dijon mustard
    ¼ pound sliced deli ham
    ½ pound sliced deli Swiss cheese
    1 egg beaten with 1 Tablespoon water for egg wash

    Preheat oven to 450°. Place a piece of parchment paper on a sheet pan.

    Lay 1 sheet of puff pastry on a floured surface and carefully roll out to 10 x 12″. Place it on the sheet pan and brush the center with the mustard, leaving a 1″ border around the edges. Place a layer first of ham and then cheese, also leaving a 1″ border.

    Place the second sheet of puff pastry on the floured board and roll it out to 10×12″. Place the second sheet on top of the filled pastry, lining up the edges. Cut the edges straight with pizza cutter or knife and press lightly together. Brush the top with the egg wash and cut a few slits in the top to allow steam to escape.

    Bake for 20-25 minutes, until puffed and golden brown. Allow to cool for a few minutes and serve hot or warm.

    *If it starts to get to brown on the top, you can tent it with a piece of aluminum foil.

    1 tsp Cornflour
    Water
    Salt

    Method:
    – Heat butter in a pan and add garlic paste to the hot melted butter.
    – Saute the garlic paste for a min and add chilli flakes, mushrooms, oregano, parsley, spring onion and mix everything well and stir fry them on high flame.
    – Leave the water behind and take out the mushroom from the pan and let it cool
    – Add cornflour mixture to the left out water from mushroom and make a thick gravy for the dressing.
    – Plate the sauce on the mushroom and mix it well
    – The dish is ready to be served with toasted garlic bread.

    Ingredients:
    200 grm Chocolate
    3/4 cup Cream
    8 Oreo Cookies
    1 & 1/2 tsp Melted Butter
    3/4 tsp Gelatin
    2 tbsp Water
    1 tbsp Caramel Syrup
    1 cup Whipped Cream

    Method:
    – In a bowl put dark chocolate and cream and microwave it
    – Whisk the melted chocolate and cream and let it cool
    – Grind the oreo cookies into a fine powder
    – Add melted butter to oreo cookie powder and mix it well
    – Make a thin layer in the base of the serving glass and refrigerate it for few mins.
    – Soak Gelatin in water for at least 5 mins and add it to the chocolate mixture
    – Add caramel Syrup and whisk it and refrigerate it for about 10 mins
    – Add whipped cream to the chocolate mix and mix it well with a spatula
    – Pour the chocolate mousse onto the oreo cookie base serving glass
    – Set for another 15 mins in freezer
    – Garnish it with whipped cream, chocolate piece and oreo cookie on top and the dessert is ready to be served.

    ingredients:
    1 lb MIXED SEAFOOD
    1 HOT PEPPER (finely chopped)
    3-4 cloves GARLIC (finely chopped)
    1 medium ONION (chopped)
    ½ cup CELERY (sliced)
    2 Tbsp TOMATO PASTE
    1 13 oz can DICED TOMATOES
    1 cup CHICKEN STOCK
    2 cups WATER (substitute 1 cup CLAM JUICE if desired)
    1 cup WHITE WINE
    2 Tbsp LEMON JUICE
    1 BAY LEAF
    1 Tbsp OREGANO
    1 tsp THYME
    1 tsp BASIL
    SALT/PEPPER to taste
    1 Tbsp OLIVE OIL

    directions:
    Heat olive oil on medium heat and add onion and celery and hot pepper. Give these ingredients a minute head start and then add the garlic and salt. Cook until the onion begins to soften and then add the tomato paste. Push the paste around with the vegetables—spread it around the bottom of the pan and let it cook up a minute or two—if the paste sticks a little, that’s cool—because now we’ll add white wine which will deglaze any stuck on paste. Stir. Add a bay leaf, oregano, thyme, basil—throw some red pepper flakes in as well if you like it hot. Let the mix simmer for about 5 minutes.
    Add diced tomatoes, 1 cup of broth (I use chicken broth, but any broth will do), and 2 cups of water—you can substitute 1 cup of clam juice for 1 of the cups of water, if desired. Bring to a boil and then reduce to a simmer, cover, and allow to cook 30 minutes.
    After 30 minutes, add 1 lb. of miscellaneous seafood—a variety of big-bite pieces make a nice presentation. Cover and simmer for another 7-8 minutes. Stir in some lemon juice and remove from heat and serve.
    It looks tasty in a bowl with a nice pyramid of rice in the middle.

    What do you call a taco without a deep fried shell or greasy meat? Delicious. Seriously, these healthy, raw, vegan nut tacos will blow your mind.

    If you’re a fan of Mexican food but not a fan of the fat and calories that usually come along for the ride, these tacos are you’re saviour.

    Kris Osborne shares her take on vegan tacos as part of her Snack Attack column. But, if you’re anything like us, you won’t be able to stop at one or two. We suggest you just go ahead and make a bunch and call it a meal.

    These delicious bites are made with fresh lettuce, ground up nuts and spices (aka nut meat), fresh pico de gallo (tomato salsa) and slices of avocado. Serve these little babies up at as an appetizer at a party (kids love them) or keep them all to yourself. Just be sure to keep this recipe handy because (fair warning) they’re a bit addictive.

    Prepare to be surprised at just how delicioso these raw and vegan tacos are. Both your health and your mouth will be saying gracias.

Today I show you how to make homemade chicken fried steak and cream gravy with my simple recipe.

    1 cheap lean steak 1cm thick
    Pinch salt
    Pinch pepper

    Coating:
    ½ cup flour
    1 tsp ground black pepper
    1 tsp salt
    2 beaten eggs

    Cream Gravy:
    3 tbs oil
    ¼ cup flour
    1 cup milk
    ½ cup liquid beef stock / broth (optional, can substitute for milk)
    Salt
    Pepper

    Oil for frying steak

    Shakshuka (Arabic: شكشوكة‎; Hebrew: שקשוקה‎) (also Shakshouka Chakchouka) is a dish of eggs poached in a sauce of tomatoes, chili peppers, onions, often spiced with cumin.
    It is believed to have a Tunisian origin.
    Shakshuka is a staple of Tunisian, Libyan, Algerian, and Moroccan cuisines traditionally served up in a cast iron pan with bread to mop up the sauce. It is also popular in Israel, where it was introduced by Tunisian Jews.
    Shakshuka is Israel’s hottest breakfast dish
    this is the best way to prepare shakshuka, the spicy, warming, vegetable and egg dish that is a regular part of the Israeli diet and is usually served as a cooked breakfast or a light lunch.
    The mix of tomato, garlic, herbs and spices, traditionally topped with sunny side up egg, is reputedly a fine hangover cure.
    Israelis argue that only the version prepared over the years by their mothers or grandmothers can be described as truly authentic.
    Regardless, most other Middle Eastern people will argue the same.
