Easy Lemon Dream Cake (Recipes Using Cake Mixes)- with yoyomax12

1 box vanilla or lemon cake mix
1 tub lemon frosting (or vanilla frosting that you add 2 tsp lemon extract to and some yellow food colour if desired).
1 can lemon pie filling
1 tub Cool Whip dessert topping
Lemon peel dipped in sugar for a garnish (optional)

Mix up the cake mix according to package directions, adding the eggs oil and water as directed. Stir in 2 tsp lemon extract to cake batter.
Pour into a greased 9×13″ baking dish
Spoon lemon pie mix over the top of the cake mix and swirl together with a knife. Don’t overmix because you want nice pockets of lemon pie mix in the cake.
Bake at 350 F until cake springs back when touched and center is no longer jiggly, about 35 minutes.
Allow to cool completely.

Frosting:
Mix lemon frosting with Cool whip and spread over cooled cake.
I mixed 2 tsp of lemon extract with vanilla frosting and added a bit of yellow food colour (optional) before stirring in the Cool Whip.

Garnish with sugared lemon peel curls.
Store in the refrigerator.
