“The 7 Step Health Makeover” – Terry Shintani, M.D.

From1985 to 2008 obesity rates in the US skyrocketed and the number one New Year’s Resolution has become “Lose Weight!”

Dr. Shintani, author of the “Eat More Weigh Less Diet”, “The Hawaii Diet” and the “Good Carbohydrate Revolution” shows how easy this can be done by simply changing food choices to high-carbohydrate low-fat plant foods and avoiding animal and processed foods.

Dr. Shintani shows that the once slender Hawaiian people now have the highest rate of obesity in Hawaii as a result of an epigenetic response to the modern US diet. Citing his published article from Am J Clin Nutr. 1991 “Obesity and cardiovascular risk intervention through the ad libitum feeding of traditional Hawaiian diet” shows also that his oil free Hawaii Diet drops serum cholesterol levels even more than the olive oil rich Mediterranean Diet.

Four included video segments recorded by The Hawaii Health Foundation suggest that the wholefood vegan diet not only results in weight loss but the reduction or elimination of medications for allergy, arthritis, diabetes, GERD, headaches, high cholesterol, hypertension, and PMS

Dr. Shintani closes with a short non-denominational Hawaiian prayer for health.

Recorded and edited by William Harris M.D. from a Vegetarian Society of Hawaii meeting on 1/8/2013

I have been a RN for over 20 years. Screw the MD’s and their narrow
thinking and limited knowledge. Screw the drug companies who want us all on
as many drugs as possible no matter if these drugs make us sick and
miserable and cause us to die sooner than we should. EAT PLANTS ! Tell
everyone who will listen and show them how much better REAL FOOD tastes !

Without strenuous exercise like running, many people can gain weight by too
much carb gasoline or for those overweight on the eskimo diet or epilepsy
ketogenic diet, too much fat gasoline. The hawaii diet is similar to other
islander diets like okinawa diet & kitava diet. Start with
vegetables/seaweed/fruits for micronutrients, get more gasoline from roots
like taro & sweet potato, get vit b12, omega 3, minerals from seafood altho
the human species has already ruined all seafood with pollution.

Getting used to eating more unrefined/unprocessed vegetables. For
breakfast, I ate spring mix with frozen berry mix and lemon juice. Also ate
frozen breadfruit from nearby Fiji grocery store which I boiled and they
taste ok like bland potato. Usually I prefer sweet potato or sprouted
buckwheat. Easy to feel full on unrefined/unprocessed plant food with
fiber/water and helps control my appetite. I exercise after every meal to
help lower my blood sugar since I tend to overeat on healthy food.
