Not everyone can get or afford the Upper GI scope nor do they give one to just anyone. My daughter had one and a colonoscopy and they still couldn't say she has celiac for a 100% and this was at Johns Hopkins with one of the top 20 GI specialist in the country. Maybe it was just that easy for both his girls. You never know.

Gina your daughter needs a blood test for allergies. That's what I had. I guess your doctor has to be knowledgeable to know exactly what tests to order. I don't think a Gi specialist is the kind of doctor you need. Ask your primary doctor, they should know or an allergist.

Gina, if you suspect your daughter is gluten sensitive, have her try a gluten free diet for a while, if she feels a lot better than usual, then maybe she has sensitivity to gluten, but perhaps not be a complete celiac. Some people with thyroid disorders can also benefit from a gluten free diet.

I had no idea that Emeril's daughters have Celiac. That is really awesome that he created a cookbook in their honor. If the recipes are as good as his other recipes, they should be awesome. It is nice to see someone of his fame and respect talking openly about Celiac and making a difference.
