Slow Cooked Black Beans | Easy & Delicious (How To)

Slow Cooked Black Beans…I was one to always think that making a pot of beans with labor intensive and time consuming. Recently beans have become a primary part of my diet so to go out and buy cans and cans of beans was well…pretty expensive. So I decided to try this whole “making them from scratch” thing out. After all was said and done I don’t think I’ll ever go back to canned beans again. It was so simple and easy and the Crock-Pot did most of the work. Give them a shot and I promise you’ll think twice about buying/eating canned beans again.

For those who are looking for a good how to, start watching at 3:07 and end
at 5:36. The rest is like watching a fluff story on the local news (Local
kittens, found cute at 10). The instructions work great, though as others
have mentioned, add less salt. The beans absorb the salt when they are
soaking, a second salting is most likely not necessary. Just do a taste
test to check and see. The seasonings, cook time, and everything else is
spot on. First time I ever used bay leaves. Great Video!

P.S. For lonely people, feel free to watch the entire video.

That’s so much salt… over your daily recommended amount

Oh my Deemus!!! You ran your mouth after the cooking how to also. You
should really, REALLY watch this video lady. Pay attention to what your
husband’s facial expressions are telling you.

Good but we could probably do without the three minute intro. Not even sure
what message you were trying to get across :)

Best quote of the video: 7:15 “Canned beans have a lot of sodium.” I guess
she missed the part where she soaked them in a pound of salt, and then
cooked them in a pound of salt.

    Let’s try it out!!!!!!

Excellent Video! You are funny, though. You said that beans are expensive,
but what is really truly expensive is the bean water from Starbucks! You
should make a video on how to make coffee. :-)

That was awesome. I want to cook my own beans now.

I eat lots of beans as well. I tried to cook black beans yesterday with out
soaking first as an experiment. NO GOOD!. Now I’m stuck with all these
mildly burned beans. I do not want to throw them because they are organic
and we are on a tight budget so I’ll figure something out. Thanks for this
video I will try your method.

I have never eaten beans out of a can 🙂 My family LOVES beans as well so
every week I’m cooking up a pot of pinto beans with bacon….I know, not
the healthiest, but let me tell ya…so YUMMY! Love your crockpot too. It’s
so fancy! I have one of those ancient ones that doesn’t work that well. I
use my pressure cooker now in place of that and it’s so much faster! I
think it’s great that you did a video dedicated to beans…lol!

Next time, can you please give measures of spices? I might try this, but I
have failed at it so many times. Also, seeing you cook different kinds of
beans would be interesting. What do you eat bor breakfast? I am diabetic
and need to be eating like you do.. Thanks

Did you know that we Chinese also eat Beans as dessert? Either in the form
of Gelatine cakes or soup. Yum. Some good Chinese Restaurants serve it
after dinner for desserts. But most are too lazy to make it these days.
They just serve orange wedges. Kelvin
