Some commenters have wondered why the chicken’s skin is yellow. I found a
statement from P-e-t-a-l-u-m-a poultry in California and they’ve stated:
“The yellow pigmentation in the skin of chickens is derived from
xanthophyll, which naturally occurs in yellow corn. Chickens fed a high
level of corn and corn gluten meal will have a naturally yellow colored
skin. Chickens fed grains such as wheat, oats or barley that do not contain
xanthophyll will not have yellow skin. We at — Poultry spend extra money
feeding our ROCKY chickens corn and corn gluten meal to get the yellow
color of which we are so proud.”
Oh, and by the way Ian, great job.
using wrong knife. sure he doesn’t know that
Somebody forgot their undershirt!
OMG.. I tried to cut up my chicken. That bird was so hacked up it wasn’t
funny. ..Lol. I actually wanted to throw it away….I will never ever cut
up another chicken as long as i live. I will be more than happy to pay
extra for a cut up chicken.
This has been very helpful thank you! I cut up my first chicken and its
fairly decent! :)
nice, but why the hell is that chicken so yellow?
tried this for the first time. not quite so easy. but practice i shall
because man, whole chicken is not expensive.
Man, you’re competent! ))
One other thing that will really help…start with a dry chicken. It’s
much easier to handle than a chicken that is slippery.
well done. In particular was the technique for removing the back in one
big piece and fleshing out the breast bone. I’m about to cut up a chicken
now and your instruction will be very helpful.
I usually break up larger pieces ( leg quarters, split breast ) into what I
want ( thigh and drumstick, boneless skinless disinfected breast for the
lady ), but I wasn’t sure how to go about cutting out the back and stuff in
a whole chicken.
This video was perfect.
I can get whole chickens for 3.80 a piece, and getting 2 breasts, 2 thighs,
2 drumsticks, and 2 wings for 3.80 isn’t bad at all.
excellent !!
poor performance
I don’t normally comment on YouTube, but I have to say THANK YOU! No
nonsense, no waffle simple demonstration of something I have avoided for
years because I thought it was tricky! :)
Fantastic, no-nonsense technique!
I’ve been cooking for a long time, yet I needed an instructional video on
breaking down a chicken (cheaper than buying parts). THANK YOU!!
Excellent thankyou
One of the basic life skills that any man should know. Thank you so much
for this great video.
There are plenty of vids on breaking down a whole chicken on youtube, but
this is the one I keep coming back to.
Just excellent, at 47 years Old, i am stoked to still be learning little
Tips, like what are being shown here. Thanks for taking the Time to show
somewhat basic information, we aren’t Born with an installed Hard drive,
such as what the newer, impatient generation expects… Cheers Mate !!!
God that chicken is yellow…
Very professional, thank you for your video, I learned a lot! Very nice
quality chicken:)
Is it just me or did he not remove the ribs? There are still bones in those
breasts.
