Recipe here: http://www.joyofbaking.com/SpritzCookies.html Stephanie Jaworski of Joyofbaking.com demonstrates how to make Spritz Cookies. Spritz Cookies, also known as Swedish Butter Cookies or Pressed Butter Cookies, are a very popular Christmas cookie, not only in Scandinavia, but also here in North America. They have a lovely sweet and buttery vanilla flavor with a texture that is tender crisp. As their name implies, “Spritz” is German for “spritzen” meaning “to squirt”, which is exactly what is done with this cookie dough. By that I mean we make these cookies using a cookie press (gun).

After I saw your video I bought a cookie press. Unfortunetely I couldn’t
manage, the dough was sticking on the pistol and my daughters were
disappointed. I don’t know what I did wrong.

I made these last night in a little Christmas tree shape – they turned out
beautiful and tasty!! This morning I made a batch for my husbands potluck
at work and thought I would be really brave and make the wreath shape. Long
story short I got carried away with the colored sugar because it is hard to
get it on this shape. I only managed to get 7 off the pan without breaking
them. Totally my fault – Green Bean Casserole it is! Just be extra careful
to get the sugar ON the cookie not all around it!!

They werent very flavorful and maybe a tad dry… not sure what i did
wron.. 1 tsp vanilla and 1/2 tsp almond… used the mixer. didnt have 2
large eggs, so did 1 large egg whole and a smaller egg yolk only…. had to
refrigerate the dough a bit and add flour to make less sticky…. Any
advice, Joy of Baking lady? AND the cookies stuck great with cooler pan,
and after wiped the butter off…

Hello! I tried to make these cookies yesterday and they tasted really good
:D. However the dough texture of mine was extremely different from yours.
I’m not sure why mine is crumbly.. I really wanted to pipe them out, but
they were too firm to pipe. Do you know any reasons why this would occur??
    thanks for your time :D

I tried this recipe last week, and the cookies turned out fabulous! I
should have doubled the ingredients, because everybody loved the cookies. I
would like to make chocolate cookies with this recipe next time. Should I
add..like half a cup of cocoa, and less butter or flour?
