    This is an indian curry. The only similarity in the ingredients are eggplants, tomatoes, salt and zucchini. No spices in a Ratatouille. The taste is very different as well. A Ratatouille is much sweeter, less soupy, more intense in flavour and definitely much more rich. These are very different dishes and neither is an inspiration for the other.

    Its like saying the Jambalaya is a creole take on the Italian Risotto.
    Or that the Indian Biryani is the Indian take on Paella or something.

    2 things:
    If he adds too many bold flavor it would be pointless because youd not be able to taste the vegetables which is why a vegetable curry is made mild.

    Also if you are referring to the large pieces of vegetables left in the curry and the lack of a "saucy" pureed look then im going to have to say I like this version better because you get the texture of the vegetables and also over cooking them would make them loose their favour.
