Allen, looks great but I don’t have the planks and I don’t have the time to
get any at this point. Can I do what you did in a shallow baking pan? Do
I need to make any changes to what you did in regards to time?
its not cooked well inside…
I’ve tried this method but i pulled mine really early because I had a
temperature probe in it I took it out at 118 degrees Fahrenheit and let it
go for a few more minutes and it was a perfect rare center
I’ve seen salmon cooked over cedar planks on a barbeque. The subtle
flavors of the cedar smoke easily penetrate fish, but what is the idea of
cooking a large rib roast on cedar in the oven? I wouldn’t think there
would be any smoke at all, and what little there was wouldn’t penetrate
very deeply into that big roast.
I want to try this method but you lose the fond to make the au jus.
oh this is awesome. I want to try this.
My father was in the meat business,at times he bought meat by the train
load!That meat is nothing special!
Great job on temp. I like the butter recipe. Will try that.
Your Prime Rib looked dried out to me. I cannot believe that you would ruin
a roast in this fashion. Prime rib needs to be served rare, cave man style,
with red juices spilling all over your slice. You must…. must tell
viewers to use a quality thermometer to avoid doing what the video suggests
that you have done …. overcooked your meat!
it was upside down
“Let’s make a smaller piece”
…..nah
i’m sorry, but this is just completely off base from best practices in a
number of areas:
1. leave out for 6 hours? 2 is good, room temp is what you need
2. the frenching job on those bones is truly a hack job
3. you cooked it with the fat cap down – wtf
look delicious
absolutely genius!!! looks AMAZING
Can I use sea salt instead? What difference does it make by using Cedar
Planked?
Hey Allen, great job!! This looks amazing and had prompted me to prepare
one the same way! I received an 11lb bone in roast from work and have a
couple questions. I plan on leaving it this large as I’m going to cook for
a large family gathering. First, would I still cook for the 5 min per lb?
Second, how long would I let it stand in the oven? Love your channel and
appreciate your ideas, thanks!
I GOTTA MAKE THIIIIS
Se ve muy bien lo que prepara este carajo, se hará la primer prueba.
Saludos y buen video.
Great Recipe, can I use Mesquite Planks?
YUM! I want to make.
Make sure that the cedar planks that you use aren’t ‘treated’ wood. Don’t
just think you can go to the home depot and buy anything. Treated lumber
has chemicals on it which can be toxic.
Great video!
