If I want to make half the amount of gravy do I half the ingredients or
just put in less flour and water?
Lots of people commenting on the ‘cute’ family, but not so much on the
gravy. Star anise totally ruins this. The finished gravy has a strong
liquorice taste to it. I am SO annoyed as I was going to leave this out,
but I followed the recipe by the book. There was also a lot of leftover
chicken meat after the reduction and I felt bad throwing all this in the
bin at the end. This is hard work for a VERY mediocre result. It’s really
not worth the effort and money spent on the ingredients at all. I feel bad
making this now, it’s an expensive lesson learned and it’s going in the bin
as I can’t stand the strong aniseed taste which should not be there in the
gravy.

How do you keep gravy from tasting like flour?
I’m amazed to see the amount of fools on here who are asking Jamie why he’s
wasting all that chicken? What’s he gonna do with it?… Um, eat it?! Use
it for something to nibble on during the day or have it for dinner. He says
to do this the day before Christmas.
