    Bravo for your take on Rendang. I haven't tried your vesion yet, but it's definitely very encouraging since all the ingredients are easy to find in the US.

    Just an extra tip, and I hope you guys read it. I think it's probably because of lost in translation, but it would be better if you use red shallots, instead of red onion. Indonesian called red shallots as "bawang merah", which literally means " red onion" since the language doesn't distinguish onion and shallots. So maybe originally when Indonesian/Malaysian tried to explain it to foreigner, they just literally translate it into red onion.
