Healthy snacks become suddenly more appealing when shaped like cars and boats! Simple and quick to assemble, you’re sure to come up with tasty variations of your own. Consider serving the cars on roads made from fruit rolls and dish up fish shaped crackers to swim alongside your boats!

These projects were compiled by our Kin Parents Producer Robert Mahar. Find more of Robert’s work at http://www.maharcraft.tumblr.com.

Fruit Cars:
1. Slice apples into wedges. Cut grapes in half.
2. Using a toothpick as the car axle, pierce a grape half, the end of the apple wedge and then the second grape half. Repeat for rear axle. Vrooom!

Veggie Boats.
1. Slice off a small piece of a cherry tomato underside, allowing it to sit flat. Slice off the top of the tomato and set aside.
2. Cut off the end of a squash and then cut an approximately 2″ piece. Set this piece on end and cut in half. Then cut very thin slices for the sails.
3. Using a toothpick as the boat mast, slide it through the top and bottom of a squash slice and then into the tomato. Ahoy!

The cars are definitely adorable, but I’ve thought of that kind of thing
before – when the boats showed up though I literally squealed. Love these!!

the car makes sense but who would eat a half of a tomato and a slice of
