Walnut Molasses Bars
Food Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter 3 cups flour 1/4 cup lard 1/2 tablespoon ginger 1/4 cup boiling water teaspoon grated nutmeg 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/8 teaspoon clove 1/2 cup molasses 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon soda Chopped walnuts
Recipe preparation:
1 Pour water over butter and lard, then stir in the sugar, and molasses. In a separate bowl, whisk soda, flour, salt, and spices. Add to the wet ingredients. Stir to combine. Chill thoroughly, then roll out the dough 1/4 inch thick, cut in strips 3 1/2 inches long by 1 1/2 inches wide. Sprinkle with walnuts and bake 10 minutes at 350 degrees F.
