Stuffed Tofu With Shrimp and Pork

Food Ingredients:
1 block firm tofu 10 shrimp, shelled and deveined cup ground pork 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon black pepper 1/4 teaspoon sugar 1/4 cup oil

Recipe preparation:
1 Drain tofu and slice into eight pieces (approximately 2″ x 1 1/2″) 2 Using the back of a knife, smash shrimp, then mince finely to form a paste. Transfer to a medium bowl and thoroughly knead together the shrimp paste, pork, cornstarch, salt, pepper and sugar. 3 Slice tofu pieces almost in two and very gently stuff the cavity with a tablespoon of shrimp and pork paste. 4 Heat oil in a nonstick frying pan until hot and carefully add the stuffed tofu. Turn heat to medium and cook, turning occasionally to ensure an even golden-brown color. 5 Remove tofu from pan and place on a paper towel-covered plate to absorb excess oil.
