MRE Review: Menu No.3 Chicken Pesto Pasta from XMRE
Here’s another civilian/commercial MRE review. This is the fourth of six reviews of the new 2015 menus from the company XMRE that I’ll be reviewing. This time it’s Chicken Pesto Pasta. This is a dish that’s been around for a number of years, but I’ve never tasted it before now. It’s quite good (by MRE standards of course). While being an “Italian” dish, this one stands out from the standard Italian MRE entrees that feature pasta and tomato sauce. The pesto sauce is a nice change from all those other entrees that taste like canned pasta from Chef Boyardee for the most part.

I've only had the Meal Kit Supply MRE which I thought was pretty good. Maybe an idea for a vid would be a comparison if there is one…Do you prefer one over the other?
Chicken pesto pasta has been one of my favorite MRE entrees so far. I initially got one as an individual entree just to taste test, but now I stocked up on a few more, and just bought a case of Sopakco SurePak MREs that has a couple in there.
Really liking your videos. I've pointed some military friends to the channel and they like it as well.
just a thought i had while watching this video, you could make your own "ghetto gatorade" by adding the salt packet to the drink mix. it may not taste the best but it would serve close to the same purpose as the carbohydrate electrolyte powder. and just a side note, it would be easier to slide the thermal sleeve down over the top of the fold instead of up from the bottom then folding the top and tucking that back in. hope that was clear enough to help
Question, if you just ate these and worked out would that be a good way to lose fat?
What if you had no water?
I find the cookies dipped in luke-warm coffee are quite…. soothing. especially a cool autumn or spring evening. This combo would be good in those seasons as a lunch as well with the nut mix to power your hike.
I don't know what it is, but something about MRE'S just makes me want to buy one again. I used to get these when I was little and I loved them because it is like camping but without leaving the house. I don't know. Maybe I am just weird but damn I love those things
I haven't had mine yet … useful to see your review … mine is from the older gen. and I don't expect it includes a spread . I was eating the chicken and noodle the day I hurt my leg on a hike., glad I'd eaten, I was stuck for about 5 hours before getting extracted.
just a silly question do you do the reviews on the floor or on a table cause it looks the wood is something you would find on a hard wood floor. lol
The way the oatmeal cookie fit perfectly in the circle part of your tray made my ocd so happy!
I really like your review videos on MREs and have been watching them for a long time. They are very informative. Thank you.
Nice review gschultz. Glad that was an Oatmeal cookie. At first glance in the pkg i thought it was a giant condom.
Once again good video man
Did you get the rock outside because I know what a rock or something looks like
