This is a very easy 3 ingredient recipe that results in some very good Sweet & Spicy Pickles. It was given to my Mom by a friend of the family & he has since passed on. I have been making these pickles for over 15 yrs for my family. Hope you enjoy these as much as we do.

John’s Sweet & Spicy Pickles
1 Gallon Hamburger Dill Slices
4 lbs granulated sugar
1 (2oz) bottle Tabasco Hot Sauce

1. Drain Pickles, reserving juice.
2. In Layers, start to add a little of sugar & then 1/4 of Tabasco Sauce. Continue adding sugar & Tabasco until you have used it all up.
3. Wipe rim of jar with clean, dmap towel & rinse pickle cap with hot water.
4. Screw on lid firmly. You may want to shake pickle jar around to dissolve sugar.
5. Pickles will need to sit out on counter at room temperature for a total of 7 days.
6. Each day flip jar. After 7 days total, place pickles in refrigerator.
I usually divide my pickles up into qt size wide mouth mason jars & hand out to friends & family.
These pickles will store for a very long time but they never last very long at my house.

The recipe made in the video was usuing these amounts.
John’s Sweet & Spicy Pickles
46 oz Hamburger Dill Slices
3 1/2 cups sugar
1/4-1/2 (2oz) bottle Tabasco Hot Sauce

Yes they should be eaten in small moderated amounts. Sort like one would
use Sweet Relish. And the Tabasco Sauce is very vinegary~so the sweetness
is counter balanced. Thanks for stopping by & commenting.

You could do that for a shortcut but the taste will not be the same but
still decent. I like to add Hot Sauce or Crushed Red Peppers to most
    everything I eat.

I’m going to have to try this. I do something similar with kosher dill
spears, I cut them into chunks and add a tablespoon of horseradish and put
them back in the juice. They are really good, nice and spicy, also works
    with green olives.

I’ve made ’em and they’re great pickles 🙂

    Ok I watched the video,so I figure…….If I buy sweet pickles add a lil
sugar and the tabasco hot sauce,it would be easier.

    Can I use splenda?

  7. RedBerry at Homestead Hopes

@alfadorus Yea I figured you would! LOL I do too!

  8. greatwf

    ¡great!

In a way yes. That is why they try to encourage people to not eat so much
of it. And why they make a fat or sugar free version of it because it has
no sugar but artificial which isn’t really that bad for your health.

    @whimberly1 Thanks so much! Hugs

@JessicaPersonalChef I am not sure but what you can do is try the smallest
jar you can find & give it a test try? If you don’t get a chance to do
this~as soon as I get to a store & get a small jar of pickles I will give
it a test run & post a vid on it. Great question!! Thanks. Take care.

@SasyBecause ohh yea I love going there!! But I love the smell of Vinegar &
Hot Spicy Peppers. But oh yea that place will clean out your sinuses for
sure! WOW! LOL I love Tabasco but you could also use any Hot Sauce you
    choose.

I like dill pickles and juice in my potatoes salad. My mom makes shake
pickles something like this but without the hot sauce. I may have to give
these a try. I’m not big on sweet pickles but I think the combination may
be a winner. Sounds interesting anyway!
