@HowToExpo sorry i should have rephrased that, peanut butter will never
ever be as good as tahini but it’s an alternative, like all alternatives
they maybe healthier, easier to find, cheaper, less difficult to prepare
etc but they never ever beat the real thing. great video, thanks for posting

@HowToExpo Thank you Mariette! I do not think it will be very easy to find
sesame paste here in Zimbabwe, but I can access sesame seeds – perhaps you
could tell me how to make the paste? Thanks again, Lorna

  13. Jathalie97

what if I cant get tahini? Is there something else I can use like
unflavored yogourt, cream cheese, creme fraiche or sour cream?

  16. HowToExpo

@lornabegbie Thank you for your nice comment. I appreciate it. The secret
ingredient is sesame paste sold in Middle Eastern and some other ethnic
store. I hope you find it in your neighborhood grocery stores to give
    hummus a try. Mariette

Many reastarants in the USA use peanut butter in leau of tahini. I think
mainly due its high price and availability. I have not tried the peanut
butter version, but I have read that it works. I am in Ghana, and luckily,
tahini is cheap and abundant. I save money purchasing chick peas in bulk
bags and use a slow cooker. I really like your presentation.

Looks very good, and nicely explained. Please tell us more about the
“secret ingredient” at the beginning of the clip.

@Jathalie97 Thank you for your comment. Mariette

  22. pilotgirlie

@PlatypusGuitar just tahini. There is nothing that tastes like it

  23. HowToExpo

@TheCelticmaori The special taste of hummus is from tahini, but when tahini
paste is unavailable, peanut butter might be a good substitute. I will try
it myself one of theses days. Thanks for your comment. Mariette
