Suggestion for those of you wishing to avoid the canned soups: use a
homemade bechamel sauce instead.
This was not “invented” by Don King, it is called Sopa de tortilla and is
an authentic mexican dish without the soups and chicken stock is used
instead.
Im still trying to find the original (or was it a variation) recipe for
this – where you make the tortilla strips, cook the chicken from scratch,
make the sauce from scratch, etc
It would have been nice with some suggestions for some other ingredients
than cream of chicken and cream of mushroom. You can’t get that in most
parts of Europe.

I can’t take a recipe seriously when someone claims it was named after Don
King. Seriously? If you can’t research the truth behind the recipe, then
the recipe loses its credit.

Ha! Made me giggle, though. I have researched the origins of this recipe,
too, and there is no consensus, just several different versions and each
camp believes their version is correct. I have decided to believe that it’s
one of those suburban mom legend recipes, due mostly to the fact that it
uses condensed canned soup. Still laughing about Don King. smh
