want to make this tastier? make a fond on the bottom of the pan by caramelizing onions, then a mixture of bacon and beef off cuts before you get to the pan searing of the ribs step. Adds more flavour to the ribs and the sauce at the end!

Problem [at least here in the Middle East]: cheap cuts aren't cheap cuts anymore!
If you consider the weight of the bone, silver skin, sheer fat and the yield of short ribs, it comes into the range of beef tenderloin – and left behind toploin, sirloin and even ribeye steaks.
It is not the same – I know, and I love e.g. short ribs – but yeah – you cannot really call them cheap cuts!
Just needs some rice with that gravy. I'm a rice and gravy man.
