MY STORY

My name is Noah and on May 18 2011, I had a rare reaction to a vaccine called VIVITROL and consequently spiraled into a major, agitated, suicidal depression with depersonalization. I lost 25 lbs in 4 weeks and was in full panic or near panic for 8 weeks straight mixed with the darkest most painful depression I cold have ever imagined. I immediately could not work and had to move in with my parents who along with many siblings and friends had to watch me 24/7 as I was so suicidal. I was eventually hospitalized. Getting through each day seemed truly unbearable and I knew I would surely die. I have been put on many many different SSRI’s SNRI’s Tricyclics, Mood stabilizers, anti psychotics, holistic meds, acupuncture and even a form of shock therapy called RTMS. I barely saw any improvement in my condition for a full year. It was decided I had treatment resistant depression and I spent nearly every moment in tears. Weeks after starting my newest round of medications (Seroquel & Nortryptaline) as a last ditch effort, I had my blood drawn for possible hormone imbalances and my Testosterone levels came back 200 ng/Dl and 150 ng/Dl. The average 25 year old male has 750 ng/Dl. With this discovery I for the first time had any type of possible explanation as to why I was not getting better and why I might be so so sick. The symptoms of such Low T are very similar to those of major depression. I started Testosterone replacement therapy soon after and have been checking in with the world and documenting my experience with treatment as well as giving my insight and perspective on various topics of mental health. I am blessed to say that I have slowly, over the last 10 months, been improving and becoming more stable which I never thought to be possible. My low T manifested itself in the form of Major depression, anxiety, and depersonalization/ derealization for over a year. Gaining some mental stability back is nothing short of a miracle as I was near death for what felt like forever. I do not consider myself to be totally healed yet but I am closer now then ever before and aim to use what I have been through to help or at least offer support to others in need.

I was able to successfully come off my Seroquel and am now tapering off my final antidepressant medication Pamelor.

Wuzzz up!  So in your recent videos you weigh more than what you did in this video (224).  You must have gained some weight between then and now.   I too am trying to lean out (currently ~264 at 5'8") and have started a new diet called intermittent fasting.  It's supposed to be great for fat loss etc.  You heard of it?

Paleo is more lifestyle not a quick fix diet. This guy is just rambling about something he knows nothing about.

Any diet that cuts out sugar and oils will allow you to loose weight. The Paleo diet is disgusting, does not work, causes people to be sick and promotes the killing of even more animals. It does in NO way emulate what our so-called ancestors ate.

The article by Dr. McDougall 'The Paleo Diet is Uncivilized, Unhealthy and Untrue' is an inspirational read:

Low fat, high carb vegan diet is the best thing for anyone that wants to lose.  You will feel so much better and sorry but weight watchers is a start but no calorie restrictive diet will make you happy.  Good luck!  Hopefully you are open minded really look into the vegan diet it's a life saver! =)

Hi to you and I've been on Weight Watchers since Christmas Eve morning and down 37.5 lbs. I am mostly on Simply Filling but I got sick for 2 weeks, gained a lot and took it off with a 1500 cal diet which I did last week and doing this week.
To me, the idea of Paleo is restrictive. Primal adding sweet potatoes, brown and wild rice along with the oils and nuts/seeds sounds like a great way to go but and I say but…. you can work Weight Watchers easily with Simply Filling and just custom make your rules because here's what I believe…
You know which foods will cause losses. You also know that for some people dairy is a disaster and for others it is a good food. For me I can do away with beans and peanut butter. Adding almonds and walnuts for ex., being natural ones is fine but I know that I have to measure it and like the Primal book says, 4 oz. is the limit. For me, probably 2 oz. is sufficient and 1-2 tbsps. of olive oil is more than enough.
I do like most meats, fish, eggs and all those protein sources but I'm also aware overdoing it on fruits though free on WW will slow or hinder losses.
I'm female so I started with 282 lbs. I weigh244.5. This is since Christmas Eve morning when I started and dropped a weight gain during 2 weeks when I had an extremely bad upper resp infection going all over at the workplace. I jumped on a 1500 cal diet and have been careful but I do see that I want to try Primal, not sure ZI can really do Paleo but would love to work a week of Paleo to see if I lose on it. Both are good diets and I'm kinda curious how my body would do actually on Paleo which is the strictest and how I'd feel.
I want to start Paleo in a week and this is because my restart day was a Sunday though my weigh in has been on a Wed. I have a gallon of ff milk and some other non-Paleo diet foods that I think I'd like to eat and drink first and then get serious and try this.
I have 95 lbs. to go. My high goal weight is 150 lbs. on a 5 ft 5 in body, small frame. I used to weigh around 120 lbs. but my goal for ideal body weight is 120-125.

You were most likely going to withdraws because you went from a high carb eating to low carb eating. Paleo is actually a pretty good lifestyle. I'm about to go paleo for weekdays and off on weekends. It's not a quick fix, it's a lifestyle change and you usually experience carb withdraw for 2-8 weeks depending how much carbs your body is used to consuming. Paleo is about getting macros from one ingredient foods rather than calorie restriction. You may lose more of WW but once you transition back to normal eating you'll gain weight back. And you said you did cold turkey… so yes – you were going through withdraws! Your body was trying to transition from using carbs as energy to using fat as energy. Over time you'll shred more fat on paleo then WW.

    Omg that last part.

    Okay man…OR LADY! Or whoever.

Roll eyes. Only progressive liberals who get mad at little things like that. You can say " okay man" it's not a big deal. Don't let these movements scare you to the pc.
