No Korean hot pepper paste?
you talk toooooooooo much
WTF is wrong with this guys voice. Who talks like that?!?!
You lost me at ketchup.
But…but….John, NO ONE PUTS LEMON JUICE IN KOREAN CHICKEN SAUCE!!!!!
Proper recipe: gochujang, sesame oil, sugar, ketchup, pepper flakes. That's it. But good recipe though. Just not authentic.(Tbh no one knows the real recipe to the sauce except the "chickensellers"….almost every Korean ppl buy(not make) chicken from delivery restaurants and some ppl try to make the sauce at home. But it never tastes the same.)
When you speak you pronounce the last word or two of your sentences at a different speed then the rest of the sentence, sometimes slower, sometimes faster. I don't mean it as an insult, it's just something I've noticed watching your videos.
your hilarious… COOLEST COOKING VIDEO!
I love your recipes, but this is far too different to be considered a "korean sauce"
what does non-ethnic food, chef john? white people food? are white people devoid of ethnicity?
Did you know that western cuisine (american cuisine) can also be called as "ethnic"? What do you think what "ethnicity" stands for? lol
Food Wishes 에서 양념치킨소스 레시피를 올려주셔서 감사한데, 진짜한국식양념치킨은 훨씬 달고매울듯. 조미료도엄청쓰고.. 대신 이건 건강해보이고 어린애들이 잘 먹을것같아요.
As a Korean I see many mentions in the comments that he is making his original sauce and not buy the book that is how Koreans usually do it. But folks, what makes it a Korean? He made a big changes from classic recipe, so what? He basically knows how its taste is defined, knows the color and what's best for the ingredient. What's more, he said it's from Korea, and that's what makes this recipe significant. As a fellow Korean fried chicken lover, I wanna try it out myself.
For all the people that don't think this recipe is authentic Korean… you're right. It isn't authentic in that he used "non-Korean" ingredients. But ingredient list is not what makes a cuisine. Does adding soy sauce in your kansas city barbecue sauce make the sauce "Asian"? of course not! What he is doing here is taking the essence of Korean food. To me, as a Korean, it is not just about the ingredients one uses rather it is ALSO about the balance of flavors. The latter is what he was trying to emulate – the balance of spicy, sweet, and sour (look at the title). This to me screams Korean.
Better sauce recipe : stawberry jam, red pepper paste, chopped onion. Ratio is up to you but never fail
nothing about this sauce is korean
jesus christ you used effing ketchup as the base
This is so unauthentic and bluntly worded it's painful and offensive to watch. You're supposed to use gochuchang, a spicy pepper paste, not honey and lemon juice and everything that's NOT supposed to be in this! Did you look for a real Korean recipe, or just thought, "Well, green onions and spice are Asian…let's go for it! I'll throw in some honey too!" This is not supposed to be a sweet and sour sauce used to dip spring rolls in. Come on. Terrible.
this is like curry without curry powder :(
Okay so, this is one of my new favorite things ever. This is fantastic pork, burgers, sausage, Bloody marries, and so good on fried chicken even fast food KFC taste good. I did cook mine for 10 min for an almost syrup like thickness but yeah fantastic.
How could Chef John do this to Korean Fried Chicken? I have watched the one dish my family eats every day for all three meals tarnished and violated!
Did Chef John not read the Koreanomicon? It clearly states that if the food doesn't contain Korean chili paste, Korean onions, Korean corn syrup, Korean garlic, Korean green onions, Korean soy sauce, Korean water and sacred soil from Seoul it is not KOREAN!
I would never go to America and use any cheese on a burger other than American Cheese so please do not disgrace Korean Fried Chicken the food of the gods!

tip!!:) strawberry jam will be much better than honey-for korean style sauce!
