This talk will focus on the practical details of eating paleo/primal. More than just a list of “allowable” foods, paleo is an approach to healthy eating that encourages self-experimentation, customization, and local decision-making. The intro will be useful for beginners, whereas the Q&A will be a platform to address more advanced topics from those who may already eat paleo/primal.

John Durant is a leader of the growing ancestral health movement and the author of The Paleo Manifesto (Random House, September 2013). Durant studied evolutionary psychology at Harvard prior to founding Paleo NYC and Barefoot Runners NYC, the largest paleo and barefoot running groups in the world. He has been featured in the New York Times, The Colbert Report, and NPR. He blogs at Hunter-Gatherer.com and tweets @JohnDurant.

John is a former president of the Harvard Libertarian Society.

very funny reading the comments from the plant cults. A personal
observation, paleo works wonderfully, I feel good, have tonnes of energy,
healthy, my proper weight, all via paleo.

If you are going to eat meat, that is red meat, eat it once a week, say a 100
gram serving ,and eat wild meat, free range lamb or goat or of course
venison…..and try to make your meat organ meat, then eat fish twice aweek
,and of course never eat processed meat.

I agree with libertarianism as much as I agree with the Paleo diet. In
fact I think these philosophies go hand in hand.

I have a very hypothetical question. If you aren’t able to discuss it
respectfully then its not for you to answer. Lets imagine gorillas suddenly
develop a brain that is intelligent enough to make tools and fire. Remember
this is hypothetical. They soon realize that if they eat raw meat it will
make them sick, but if they cook it then they wont get sick and die. Soon
they develop a taste for human flesh, so they start hunting and eating
cooked human meat along with their original diet of plants. Would we allow
them to eat human, and argue that it is ok for them to eat human?

wheat and dairy is not meant for humans
dairy is designed for baby calfs think about it. would you drink breast
milk? let alone from a cow?
    wheat just turns to sugar
two slices of bread is about 1/3 of sugar
    instant high but ultimate crash

The problem with your history is the fact that Archeologists are finding
very old human habitats well over 50,000 years old, maybe hundred of
thousands, and had very large populations with advanced technologies that
exceed ours today! The Aztecs had hundred of thousands of people living
around advanced cities and eating domesticated animals and plants. Our true
history awaits discovery to fully understand what we are and why we eat as
    we do.

I live by a big canola growing region and theres still a sign up that
refers to it as “The land of Rape and Honey.”

Anybody eating paleo on average grocery store meat and still getting
positive results? Grass-fed meat in the store is just so expensive.
