Baking soda is pure Sodium bicarbonate. Baking powder has baking soda plus
an acidic and base agent. When to use one or the other is dependent on
other ingredients in the recipe.
@savithasri Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it!
if u don’t mind, can u please tell me how u made the cake in the pressure
cooker, i have a few pressure cookers, i wouldn’t mind using it. i think it
cuts the time into half and it is very convenient.it sounds interesting. i
would appreciate it

No, self rising flour is all-purpose flour with added leavening agents such
as baking soda or powder.
Easier version of eggless date cake! Thanks! Indian women are very pretty..
I just made this and it is delicious. Moist and with the perfect amount of
sweetness:) thank you for the recipe!
shankarabharanam – why look in the malls – any regular grocery store
Ralphs, Safeway, Lucky etc. will most crtainly carry since baking is common
in the U.S. In India, you’ll find in specialty stores that carry cake
ingredients.
@raisingchef Well, like we said, regular milk may be too thin for this
recipe. Anytime you are baking, it is difficult to change the recipe
around. Baking is more of a science and measurements should be followed
very carefully.
Sifting is done to incorporate more air, which helps the cake to rise and
become spongy the more u sift the more air it has, the more spongy it
becomes and softer. – Dadi JAan
Hi ladies I love all your recipes , thank you so much and god bless you
both, I just wanted to ask can you just use self raising flour , rather
than all purpose with baking powder and baking soda ? It’s just here in the
uk we only have plain flour or self raising flour , so if I use self
raising do I need to add anything to it or shall I use plain flour and add
the baking soda and baking powder , please kindly do reply as I’m a bit
stuck , thank you
@amicable333 : that is excellent! Could you share the details of cooking
cakes in a pressure cake with us and our viewers. You can email it or post
it here. Thank you 🙂
