Dr McDougall Debunking The Paleo Diet

In this brilliant audio excerpt Dr John McDougall debunks the paleo diet and the notion that Palaeolithic man ate primarily meat. As Dr McDougall says “The Paleo lie has been repeated so many times that it has become ‘truth’”

This excerpt is from, ‘The Diet Wars’ presentation from the McDougall Advanced Study Weekend 2012.

I believe a raw food vegan diet is optimal for humans however a low fat plant based diet is still a wonderful way to start improving your health, lose weight, cure diabetes, arthritis, heart disease, cancer, IBS &Crohns, migraines, etc!

Gluten and lectins are also negatively seen in average discussions about it. Especially in artificial foods like white rice where the wheat germ is extra fortified.

As far as I'm concerned, Loren Cordain's book, the Paleo Diet is fraudulent. In it he deliberately misrepresents a study to try to prove that eating meat doesn't cause cancer. But that's not what the study said. It said that it was too short-term to show meat as a cause of cancer. It clearly showed meat as a cause of heart disease, but Cordain failed to mention that little inconvenient fact. Cordain is a professor of exercise by the way, and not nutrition. He likes meat because it raises testosterone and helps him to have bigger muscles…and a shorter, sicker life.

I agree with Mc Dougall, during the paleolithic humans ate starches, but this was from 2.5 million years to 10.000 years ago. What about 12 million years ago? when humans appeared on the Earth they appeared in Africa, on the equator and also from their teeth analysis they ate..FRUIT!

When you look at what our ancestors ate, you reject recent scientific discoveries. You reject new technology, books, what people learned, etc.

how about Masai in Africa?? They eat 60% fat 30% red meat and perfectly healthy. No CVD what so ever. Maybe all the refined carbs creating problems. Can any vegan explain this?
