Classic Vanilla Custard is one of my favourite desserts from my childhood. Milk, cream, vanilla and egg yolks are combined to make a thick, rich mixture that can be served hot or cold, poured over pies, puddings or cakes, or simply served by itself – give it a go!

NEW VIDEO: Classic Vanilla Custard! Watch the recipe video here:
Thank you….you made this very clear and easy to follow….can’t wait to
make it; tonight!!!!!
Oooh, that sounds delicious. I’ll give it a try. Thank you for another
lovely recipe and video – that tip about keeping it from forming a skin was
especially good.
Looks good, perhaps a bacon topping would add that little something special
;)
Alternate layers of vanilla wafers and bananas in a bowl, pour over that
custard base, then whip the reserved egg whites into a meringue, and
finally brown said meringue. Let finished product chill thoroughly and you
have yourself an true southern banana pudding that will make anyone’s mouth
go mmmmmm. :)
Mmmmm. Fish Fingers…
can u put numbers and ml or dcl next to it..it is easyer..please 🙂
the things u make are amazing :)
Can’t beat a classic custard so good! Kate:)
David, this is the kind of custard we can use to make ice cream?
Now all I need is fish fingers!!!
You make magic in that kitchen! And looks easy too!
I made this yesterday, and only had 4 yolks but it still turned out yummy.
OMG so rich and creamy. I recommend using the vanilla paste.
This is the recipe I use to make banana pudding. I make the custard
thicker, then pour it hot over vanilla wafers and sliced bananas in a bowl.
I make two layers in a dish… and my family loves it. And me. ;)
LOL! I totally know why you thought to make this…..you had really bad
vanilla custard while you were in the hospital. 🙂 This looks fabulous!
What flavors would be fun to add to this basic recipe?
Looks gorgeous! 🙂
