thank you so much for this recipe. i remember eating this as a child.my mom
usta make this all the time, you make it just the way she did.
@bethbags Thank you for your heartfelt comment. Mujadara is also very
nutritious, We usually serve mujadara as you said with plain yogurt or
refreshing yogurt drink (tan). Mujadara is also served with green salad or
simply with dry or green onion. Enjoy! Mariette
Thank you so much for the recipe! It was really good 🙂
@xxunique18 Seasoning is of course what you want the end result to taste
like. Traditionally Mujadara is cooked without cumin or cinnamon. I have
tried it with cumin and liked it, but I have not tried to cook this recipe
with cinnamon. Let me know about the result. I would love to hear from you.
Mariette
ty, i always make this with rice but I will try it with bulgur one day.
@SmallWorldFilms You’re most welcome. Thank you for sharing your experience
with us. What did you serve it with? Although Moujadara can be served
alone, it is traditionally served with the refreshing yogurt drink and, or,
tomato salad. You can also serve all kind of pickles with moujadara or
fresh green onions and fresh bell pepper. Mariette
Very delicious, healthy, and cheap to make
Thank you so much for this video. I am learning Arabic cooking. I am
confused. I saw the lentils and bulgar but where is and when do you add the
rice? This recipe is printed on the internet? Thank you
@jazzfnnybnny12 Funny how we never forget what and how our mother cooked
our preferred meals! The secret to a perfect mujadara, my mother used to
say, (and she was a great cook) is to measure the lentil liquid to cook the
bulgur or rice with iand if the lentil liquid is not enough add water to
reach the liquid required. And of course the browned onion plays a big roll
too. Mixed some with the mujadara and serve the rest on side. Enjoy!

You’re most welcome. Lentil is one of the healthiest food around. Give it a
try and share with us how do you like it. Also how did you present the
mujadara. We are always open for new ideas recipes and new ways of serving
to share them with our readers. Thanks for the complement. I greatly
appreciate it. Enjoy! Mariette
I am about to make it right now
@HowToExpo Thanx for that tip! I don’t normally cook with Bulgar but it’s
never too late to start 🙂 By the way, you have it down on the list of your
recipe to use #2 Bulgar for this dish…you may want to change or update
your info…that in itself kind of confused me. Other than
that…..everything else was explained perfectly!
@HowToExpo Hey Mariette, Thanks a lot for the recipe. I tried it with long
grain rice and it turned out really well! I think I shall start cooking it
regularly, and increase the proportion of onion! More vegetarian recipes
please 🙂
Thanks for posting. I am glad you tried the moujadara and liked the result.
I made it tonight and it was literally the best I’ve ever had. Thank you so
much for this recipe!
Thank you for posting….a dish from my childhood that I still love–one of
my “comfort foods”. Eat it with plain yogurt of sour cream. Soooooo good
Thank you very much. This dish has become part of my menu and everybody
loves it.
